He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Long Garris; his children, Richard "Rick" McCormick Garris (Brandi) of Newberry, SC and Tina Garris of Lexington; his stepdaughter Joy Guffey (Joey) of Brevard, NC; and his grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Isaac Stamey, Alyssa, Jackson Garris, Tyler and Trevor Garris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
