He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Mae Cook-Williams and Melvin Cook; and his significant other Mary Alice Cook. He is survived by: his children, Charles F. Cook, Mary E. Cook, Margaret A. Cook, Ellen Cook, Claudia Butler (Michael), Louvina Cook of Newberry, SC, David Gillman of Newberry, SC and James Cook, Jr. of Newberry, SC; his grandchildren, Ronald Cook, Shondell Cook, Chakira Cook, Nicole Cook, Cynthia Cook, Kia Sims, Arthur Cash, Michael Butler II of Brooklyn, NY, Thomas Cook and Shatrina Stephens of Houston; his aunt Lucy Sligh of Greensboro, NC; and his son-in-law Randolph Sims of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by 27 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren.
