He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Arthur Hale and Martha Leona Wilkins Hale; his former wife Kathryn Holmes Hale; and his sister Georgia Cook. He is survived by: his wife Charlene Stoll Hale; his children, James A. Hale, Jr. (Vicki), Idalyn Hale Grubbs and Elise Hale Hoffman (Mike); his grandsons, Sam and Matthew Hale; and his children, Robert, Michael, Sara Grubbs and Caroline Hoffman.
