He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley Rushton and Letie Veta Hughes Rushton; and his wife Marsha Ellen Cockrell Rushton. He is survived by: his brothers, Michael C. Rushton (Jan) of Saluda and Kent Rushton (Glenda) of Saluda; his stepson Russell Lott (Teresa) of Anderson; and his uncle Russell A. Hughes of Saluda. He is also survived by four step-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
