He is survived by: his mother Annie Mae Ellis (Joe Dennis Ellis, Sr.); his children, Taquanta Shambreka Jessie of Newberry, SC, Fredrick Wilson of Newberry, SC and Robert Tolen (Zhana) of Laurens, SC; his grandchildren, Zymaya, Ny'robi, Kaylee, Angela and Rashed; his siblings, Barry Ellis of Newberry, SC, Eddie Ellis (Teresa) of Clinton, SC, Mary Ann Ellis, Louise Brown, Cindy Ellis of Laurens, SC, Dorothy Jean Johnson of Newberry, SC, Sarah Ethel Ellis of Clinton, SC, Susan Davis of Columbia, SC and Nora Brown of Aiken, SC; and his brothers-in-law, Arthur Floyd of Kinards, SC and J. W. Houston of Newberry, SC. He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
