She was predeceased by: her mother Myra Epting Gilliam; and her stepfather Charles Douglas Gilliam. She is survived by: her husband James Henry Dodgen; her daughter Laurie Ferguson (Steve) of Flat Rock, NC; her grandson Rion James Ferguson (Clarissa) of Fountain Inn; her great grandchild Braeden Kennington; her daughter Sylvia Thackray (Rick); and her granddaughters, Tamara Thackray and Natalie Thackray.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the West End Baptist Church (620 Main St, Newberry, SC 29108). A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
