With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lena Mixon Stokes (New Ellenton, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 4, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Lena Mixon departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Lena Mixon. Though Lena Mixon may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She is survived by: her husband Charlie Stokes, Sr.; her children, Charlene Stokes-Geter and Charlie Stokes, Jr. (Rashelle); and her siblings, Rosa Mixon, Willie Mae Valentine (Earl Sr.), Tonya Odom, Elizabeth Morton (Tony), Donald Hill (Hiawanuis), Torrence Hill and Benjamin Mixon Betty Jean. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grand-children; and a host of other relatives and loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jackson-Brooks Chapel (606 Main St, New Ellenton, SC 29809). The lying in state will be held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Four Mile Missionary Baptist Church (601 Jackson Ave, New Ellenton, SC 29809). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
