He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Kennerly and Mary Alice Carson Kennerly; his son Mitchell L. "Buster" Kennerly; his brother-in-law Woodrow C. Brown; and his wife Virginia J. Kennerly.
He is survived by: his children, Gina Kennerly and Steven Kennerly; and his sisters, Rachel K. Brown and Nancy K. Tyler (Leon). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
