He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Henry Nettles and Lucia Bell Williams Nettles; his son Chandler Nettles; his grandson Leonard Russell Jones; and his siblings, Edna Douglas, Woodrow Nettles and Jack Nettles of Connor.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Brown Nettles; his children, Carmen Irick of Neeses and Russell Jones (Cynthia) of Neeses; his daughter-in-law Sandra Kennerly Nettles of Springfield; his brother Herman David Nettles of Goose Creek, SC; his grandchildren, Kristy Bellew (Stephen), Emily Jeffcoat (Chris), Sherry J. Kittrell (Troy), William J. Strickland, III (Jennifer), Deanna Moore (James) and Austin Irick; and his great grandchildren, Alex Strock, Logan Strock, Kennedy Strock, Morgan Sawyer Jones-Baldwin, Jayden McPeake, Olivia Baldwin, Rebecca Strickland, Kimberly Strickland, Nicholas Strickland, Parker Bellew, Peyton Bellew, Chandler Jeffcoat and Casen Jeffcoat. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
