He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Ely and Barbara Dowell Ely; his brother Michael Ely; his daughter Caroline Ella Ely; his sisters, Donna Ely Rees (Al) of Goldsboro, NC and Beverly Ely Smith (Bobby) of Goldsboro, NC; his significant other Tonja Taylor Morton; his nieces, Evangeline Combs and Amber Lund; his nephew Brodie Smith; his great-nephew Joseph Lund; his daughter Haley Ely; and his granddaughter Camille Gunter of Charleston.
