He was predeceased by: his parents, John S. Walters Sr. and Pauline Walters (Smith); and his siblings, Arlene, Donnie, Lester and John Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Clanton "Gaga" Walters; his sons, Phillip and Michael; his stepdaughters, Christine and Ashley; his brothers, Dane and Jim (Patty); his nephew Lynn; his sister Mary Ann; and also, Jaime Walters, Alexander, Avaline, Michael, Nicole Walters, Michael Jr., Redden, Christine Lee, Elizabeth, Ashley and Bobby McClellan.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the McMillan-Small Funeral Home (910 67th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572). A funeral service was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Mt. Elon Baptist Church (1132 W Lydia Hwy, Hartsville, SC 29550).
Wrestling was always his first love, and he was inducted into the Maryland State Wrestling Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport.
