He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Layel and Shirley Edwards; and his son John Michael. He is survived by: his wife Joanne; his children, Tom Layel (Kelley) and Anne Haist (Brion); his siblings, Lisa Reynolds (Tonii), Stephanie Ford (Greg) and Mark Layel; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kensley Layel, Claire, Samuel, Katherine and Madeleine Haist.
