He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Abner Herring and Marion Rackley Herring; his brother William "Bill" Herring; his wife Frances Herring; his children, Jason Herring (Debra) of Myrtle Beach and Jaimie Heckler of Myrtle Beach; and his grandchildren, Jouli, Carly and Cole Heckler.
