He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas Mercer, Sr. and Edith Victoria Camlin Mercer; and his brothers, Stanley Boyce Mercer and Orris Bryan Mercer. He is survived by: his wife Penny Watts Mercer; his children, Shannon Edwards of Georgetown and Erin Ethridge of Georgetown; his grandson Hunter Strickland of Corpus Christi, TX; his great grandchild Kelanii Strickland; his siblings, Dana Mercer of Myrtle Beach, Maureen Mobley (Charlie) of Andrews and Meta Benninghoff of Andrews; his aunt Vera Goff of Georgetown; and his sisters-in-law, Pat McClellan (Johnny) and June Perry (Mike). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
