She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Woodrow Hester and Mildred Butler Hester; her husband Alvah Lynn Smothers; her siblings, Houston Hester and Linda Hester; and her granddaughter Crystal Abbott Coffman.
She is survived by: her sons, Thomas W. Smothers (Misty) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Allen W. Smothers (Shirley) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joseph "Joe" Abbott (Elisa) of Tar Heel; and her sisters, Myrtle Hester of Dublin and Hilda Kinlaw of Dublin. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services (3131 M. L. K. Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Singletary Cemetery of Dublin.
