He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Barnes and Anna Barnes (Stein); his wife Virginia Catherine Dewey; his son Rex Lee Barnes; and his sisters, Pauline (Lambert) and Betty (Dyche).
He is survived by: his daughter Lori Frauhiger; his son-in-law Ken Frauhiger of Surfside Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Grace Frauhiger of Myrtle Beach, SC and Josh Frauhiger (Heather); and his great grandchildren, Bricklee of Lafayette, IN. and Baker of Lafayette, IN.. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
