Bud Davis wrote a sympathy message

“John was a co-worker of mine at United Telephone. I worked in Accounting and he in Information Systems. He and I were Marines, he an infantryman and I an office worker. He was one of the people I worked at the telephone company that I knew I could trust and was sure he had my back. It was a pleasure to work with such a man. I remember when Desert Storm broke out, both he and I were older, but experienced. I never tried, but John tried to re-enlist for active duty. Too old. Wrong!!”
