He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Evelyn James and William Hoyt Whitlow. He is survived by: his wife Patti Mayes of Murrells Inlet, SC; his children, Petra W. Remson (Paul) of Potomac, MD, Michel Coleman (David) of Alabaster, AL, James H. Whitlow, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Gregory W. Whitlow of Atlanta, GA and Ashleigh B. Pettit of Atlanta, GA.; and his grandchildren, Matthew J. Remson, Alex D. Coleman, Olivia M. Coleman, Elaina L. Coleman, Parker G. Whitlow, Chase J. Whitlow, Blake S. Whitlow, Julia P. Whitlow and Jackson A. Misbach.
