She was predeceased by: her parents, Max Daniel Heffner and Alice McCoy Heffner; her daughter Donna Mechane Howie; and her siblings, Dean Heffner, Marion Heffner, Brevard Heffner, Cloughn Heffner, Alice McGinnis, Lavania Ratchford and Melba Morrow.

She is survived by: her husband Carl W. Howie; her son-in-law Alan J. Loveless; her granddaughter Lauren T. Loveless; her nieces, Amanda Sherrill (Rick Heffner) of Covington, GA and Phyllis Harris; her nephew Dean McGinnis of Belmont, NC; and her kitty Angel.
