With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Darryl Phillips Gilland (Murrells Inlet, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 14, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Henderson Gilland and Gertrude Phillips Gilland; his brother Ralph Lynwood Gilland; his son Michael David Gilland (Butter); and his pet Boykin Spaniel Eddie.
He is survived by: his wife Liz (Liz); his daughter Missi Collins (Brad); his grandchildren, T. J. Gillenwater, Madison Conover (Tyler) and Rivers Gilland; his great grandchild Vivian Elizabeth Conover; his sister Eleanor; and his brother-in-law Jay Dixon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Burroughs Funeral Home (3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576). Visitation was held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services (3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Darryl's memory.
