He is survived by: his wife Barbara Smith Owens of Mullins; his son Douglas Owens of Surfside Beach; his grandchildren, Tara Rowe (John), Tracy White (Ryan), Ryan Owens, Scott Hewett (Whitney), Jason Hewett (Kayla) and Brandi Nuneville (Dalton); his great grandchildren, Bladen, Braxton Rowe, Hadley, Harper Nuneville, Harrelson White and Cayden Hewett; his brothers, Boyd Owens of Mullins and Jimmy Owens (Alice) of Mullins; his son-in-law Greg Hewett of Shallotte, NC; and his sisters, Fannie Capps, Frankie Atkinson and Katie Donald.
