He was predeceased by: his son Dr. Anthony Rivers; his parents, Rev. Rufus Rivers and Maggie Rivers; and his siblings, Laura Rivers, Henry William Rivers and Elijah Rivers.
He is survived by: his wife Minister Onethia B. Rivers; his daughters, Sandra Johnson Tillman and Vanessa Miller; and his siblings, Thelma Rivers Matthews (Leon), Daisy Myers, Ruthamae Speights and Georgetta Rivers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
