With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Thomas D. Chavis Sr. of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, born in Swansea, South Carolina, who passed away on November 13, 2023 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Leck Chavis and Emmett Lee Chavis; and his stepson Walter "Dickie" Owens. He is survived by: his daughters, Ginnie Chavis Mitchell (Reese) of Macedonia, SC and Margaret Ann Chavis of Columbia; his stepdaughters, Edith Owens of Moncks Corner and Karen Owens Dangerfield of Georgetown, TN; and his sons, David Chavis of Columbia, SC, Dwayne Chavis of Columbia, SC and Roger Chavis of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
