He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Gathers and Mary Lee Taste Gathers; his brothers, Henry Gathers and Jacob Johnson; and his brothers-in-law, McArthur Howell and Harrison Middleton.
He is survived by: his children, Keisha Nolen, Kevin Nolen, Terrence Nolen, Shannon Bass Edward and Darrell Jones; his siblings, Middleton, Williemae Halls (William), Eddie Gathers (Bertha), Bessie Hood (Alton), Martha Howell, Betty Ferguson (John), Eva Gilbert (Micheal), Freezie Omarde (Walter), Shiela Gathers (Willie Hall), Andrew Gathers (Gwendolyn) and Jeffery Gethers (Laniece); his sisters-in-law, Betty High Gathers and Jessie Lee Johnson; his uncle Moses Brown; and his close friend Deacon Glen Wood. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
