He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Austell and Mary Austell Mullins; and his grandson James Donald Austell III. He is survived by: his wife Paige Baxley Austell; his siblings, Thomas Mullins (Betty) and Cesta Mullins Ford; and his children, Jane Donna Wilkins, Cathy O'Brien and James Austell Jr.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and five stepchildren.
