He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Bill" Cooper and Zilpha Smithey Cooper. He is survived by: his wife Betty James Cooper; his daughters, Delsey Brown (Tom), Mandy Cooper (Lynda Coe) and Melinda Encarnacion (LeeRay); his grandchildren, Molly B. Quackenbush (Mark), Logan Encarnacion (Julia), Kailey Bugarin (Alex) and Avery Encarnacion (Cole); and his great grandchildren, Piper Quackenbush, Paque Encarnacion and Xander Bugarin.
