He was predeceased by: his parents, Bledsoe L. Estes, Sr. and Janice Maude King Estes; his children, Stephen Lee Estes, Brenda Kathleen Kinard and Rhonda Gail Ellisor; his granddaughter Sable Nicole Easterling; and his siblings, Deloris L. Estes and Donald H. Estes.
He is survived by: his son J. Dwight Estes (Lou Ann) of Oak Island, NC; his grandson John H. Kinard, III; his daughter Donna L. Ward (Mike) of Moncks Corner; and his brother Charles E. Estes of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
