He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Prevatte and Bertha Lee Chavis Prevatte; and his siblings, Joseph "Joe" Prevatte, Fairley Prevatte and Rebecca Grooms.
He is survived by: his wife Mollie Smith Prevatte; his daughters, Karen Smith (Harvey) of Laurinburg and Christa York (Alvin) of Laurel Hill; his siblings, William Prevatte of McColl, SC, Jay Prevatte of McColl, SC and Thelma Bailey of McColl, SC; his grandchildren, Richard Smith (Amanda), Heather Smith, Bryce Rogers, Hayden Sanchez, Justin Smith, Liam Smith and Kingston York; his great grandchildren, Emilie Smith and Bailey Smith; and his grandchildren, Tina Prevatte, Shannon Prevatte, Cale Smith and Darryl Smith.
