He was predeceased by: his daughter Kristin Smalls. He is survived by: his wife Lavern O. Smalls; his daughter Krystal Smalls; his grandson Noah Benjamin Smalls; and his sisters, Mary Alice Scott and Marcella Smalls. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
