It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Retha Brister (McBee, South Carolina), born in Chesterfield, South Carolina, who passed away on October 3, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom Murphy and Sallie Murphy; her husband Willie T. Brister; her son Jennings Brister; and her siblings, Lula Price, Cora Wade, Mary Jane Porter, Sadie Murphy, Annie Bell Murphy, George Murphy, Hurbert Murphy, Bill Murphy and David Murphy.

She is survived by: her children, Sallie Ann Brister of McBee, SC, Willie Mae Price (JoAnn) of McBee, SC, Jeanette Brister of McBee, SC, Judy Brister of McBee, SC, Melissa Pauley (Elijah) of McBee, SC, Florea Scott of Hartsville, SC, John Wesley "Duke" Brister of McBee, SC, James Brister (JoAnn) of McBee, SC, Ronnie Brister (Tiffany) of McBee, SC and Emanuel Bristow (Mary) of Angelus, SC; her sister Lorraine Love of Charlotte, NC; her sister-in-law Emma Grace Murphy of Charolette, NC; and her grandchild Forty. She is also survived by Forty-seven great grandchildren and thirteen great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

The firm foundation of a loving family was built upon the principles and bond generated in the Brister home.
