She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonnie Horton and Frances Taylor Horton; her husband Robert Horton; her son Blake Benton; her great grandchild Caleb James; and her siblings, LJ Horton, Ed Horton, Wilbur Horton, Betty Hinson and Vera Robinson.
She is survived by: her children, Gail James (Perry) of Hartsville and Stacey Benton of McBee; her grandchildren, Bubba James, Jessica Peavy (Brandon) and Amy Lamb; and her great grandchildren, Cayden James, Abby Lear, Jaxon Peavy, Emily Kate Peavy and Waylon James.
In lieu of flowers, Gay Nell requested that memorials be made to Beauford Baptist Church, c/o Mr. Danny Bradshaw, 1504 Sandy Run Creek Road, McBee, S.C. 29101.
