He was predeceased by: his parents, Harmon Shatzel and Elsie Carpenter Shatzel; his wife Theresa Shatzel; his daughter Patricia McElveen; his stepchildren, William Brock and Joan Pikula (John); his siblings, Albert Shatzel and Thelma Shatzel; and his granddaughter Lillian Teresa Creech Colyer.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Pam Creech Dellinger of Marion; his great grandchildren, Anna Clapper (James), Sarah Dellinger and Rose Dellinger; his stepgrandson Michael Pikula; and his son-in-law Fritz McElveen of Lake City.
