James Bennett Atkinson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Bennett Atkinson of Marion, South Carolina, who passed away on September 24, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Benton Atkinson and Flora Avant Atkinson; his former wife Helen R. Atkinson; and his siblings, Laverne Atkinson, Keith Atkinson and Shirley Hunt.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Sanderson Atkinson; his children, Warren Atkinson (Angie) of Murrells Inlet, Glenn Atkinson (Susie) of Mullins and Catherine Floyd (Rocky) of Aynor; his stepdaughters, Renee McRae (Eddie) of Florence and Alison Johnson (Tony) of Marion; his grandchildren, Jennifer Haylash (Zak), Mandy Maas (Geoff), Blythe Peterson (Tobin), Sara Lum (Atticus), Matthew Floyd (Myers), Kristen Clardy (Russ), Mason Floyd, Kelly Floyd, Michael Hayes (Morgan), McKenna Johnson, Jessica Hinschelwood (Stephen) and Barrett McRae; his great grandchildren, Pippa Clardy, Juliane Haylash, Grady Peterson, Sloane Peterson, Briar Floyd, Addison J. Hayes, Maggie P. Hinschelwood and Thomas E. Hinschelwood; his siblings, Rosemary Bethea (Marcus) of Florence, Beth Collins of Knightdale, NC and Van Atkinson (Marie) of Marion; and his sisters-in-law, Audrey Atkinson and Missy Atkinson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service, but politely asks due to the threat of COVID no mingling, hugs, or handshakes be shared with them at the cemetery.
