He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Ernest Askins and Edith Bailey Askins; his wife Ellen Dorothy Weatherford Askins; and his siblings, Hallie Benton, Eunice Singletary and Marion Askins.
He is survived by: his children, Franklin Ernest Askins of Timmonsville, SC, Dexter Edward Askins (Rachel) of Effingham, SC and Emma Jean Padgett (Glenn) of Effingham, SC; and his grandchildren, Jimmy Keith Pierce, Jeanne Diane Pierce, Gabriel Santana Askins and Dakota Askins. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
