He was predeceased by: his parents, Larry R. Newton and Sheron Kirby Newton; his brother Roger Newton; his sisters-in-law, Wanda Capps and Norma Wilkey; his grandmother Virginia Lawrence; and his parents-in-law, Dee and Jerry Wilkey.

He is survived by: his wife Delaney "Dale" Wilkey Capps; his sons, Byron Jeremy Capps (Heather Kimbro) and Brandon Lee Capps (Brittany Nix); his grandchildren, Natalie Capps, Karson Capps and Adleigh Capps; and his siblings, Barry Capps (Windy), Keith Capps, Max Newton (Rosie), Lisa Nolen (James) and Kimberly Hart (Russell). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
