He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivy Dargan Beard and Ruby Barfield Beard; and his brothers, Homer Beard and Thurmon Beard. He is survived by: his wife Helen Elizabeth "Betsy" Brogdon Beard; his sons, Keenan Legrant Beard (Christi) of Rock Hill and Joseph Cadby Beard (Caroline) of Manning; his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Naas (Sam), Benjamin Walsh Beard, Lydia Grace Beard, Sarah Madeline Beard, Anna Caroline Beard, Margaret Lyles Beard and Rebecca Hendrix Beard; and his siblings, Neil Beard (Phyllis) of Manning, Donnie Beard of Sumter, Lorie Oswald (Ray) of Columbia, Jeanette Beatson (Jim) of Sumter, Frankie McCabe (David) of Manning, Barbara Potter (Wayne) of Sumter and Lisa Osborne (Al) of Sumter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
