She was predeceased by: her husband Rev. Harold Akers; her father John Henry; her daughters, Ruby King and Diana Chaffens; her daughters-in-law, April Akers and Drema Akers; and her granddaughter Julia Jean King.
She is survived by: her children, Rev. Johnnie Akers (Josie), William Akers, Rev. Lana Lambert (Larry), Loretta Duncan (Valentia), Brenda Hagerman, Carol Stimson (Brian), Elise Cowan (Tim) of Summerton, Doug Akers, Verdie Shaffer and Jerry Akers (Julie) of Summerton; and her adoptive children, Diedra Steele (Denny) and Raymond Akers (Tanya) of Turbeville. She is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren; and 4 siblings.
