It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Reita Nelson McGill (Lynchburg, South Carolina), who passed away on February 15, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Josh Nelson Sr. and Ophelia Boizer Nelson; her sister-in-law Mary Durant (Larry) of Lynchburg, SC; and her siblings, Janie Lou Rosa McFadden, Minnie Ruth Lesane, Beulah Nelson, Bertha Nelson, Martha Nelson, Mary Nelson, James Elijah Nelson and Leroy Nelson.
She is survived by: her husband Willy Barkley McGill; her children, Novella Ali (Ajayi) of Lynchburg, SC, Maria Briggs (Farmarris) of Mayesville, SC, Barkley McGill (Helen) of Lynchburg, SC, Quentin McGill (Shanika) of Blythewood, SC and Quincy Levern McGill of Lynchburg, SC; and her siblings, Elizabeth Betsy Rufus of Oswego, SC, Deacon Josh Nelson (Ethel) of Oswego, SC and Willie Nelson of Oswego, SC. She is also survived by two aunts; one uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
In accordance with the COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 2175 Rose Hill Road, Lynchburg.
