He was predeceased by: his mother Clara Mae Lawson Parris; his sister Linda Butts; and his sisters-in-law, Barbara Blanton and Pat Parris. He is survived by: his pets, Sophie, Sally and Layla; his wife Carolyn Padgett Parris; his daughters, Cynthia Edge (Bobby) of Lyman and Audra Fowler of Lyman; his grandchildren, Walt Fowler of Lyman, Elizabeth Edge of Athens, GA and Allison Edge of Arlington, VA.; his siblings, Hoyt Parris of Roanoke, VA, Glenn Parris of Duncan, Betty Darby (Johnny) of Spartanburg, Kay Whitlock (John) of Inman and Cyndi Suttles of Inman; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Blanton of Lyman and Terry Padgett (Sonya) of Lyman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
