He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn Apperson (Lorraine); his parents, Leo Apperson and Dorothy Apperson; his son Jim, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Deanna; his great grandchild Lilly; and his siblings, Johnny, Dwight, David, Bobby and Shirley.

He is survived by: his children, John Michael Apperson (Lisa), Stephan Edward Apperson, Tina Marie Marcus (Steven) and Donald Mitchell Apperson (Cindy); and his siblings, Dorothy Apperson Canterbury, Edward Apperson and Edna Apperson Barbour. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with one additional granddaughter.
