It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernhard Charles Makela of Lyman, South Carolina, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on June 21, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard Makela and Lucille Olszak Makela; and his brother Jimmy Makela. He is survived by: his sister Mary Ann Makela Kornatowski; his brother-in-law Joe Kornatowski; his nieces and nephews, Joey Kornatowski, Jeff Kornatowski (Sue), Jennie Karas (Val), JoAnn Todd (Bo), Jacki Kornatowski and Jill Kornatowski; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Joshua Kornatowski, Parker Kornatowski, Maddie Kornatowski and Tori Kornatowski; and his friend Bruce Pennington. He is also survived by aunts, cousins.
