He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph and Camilla Wisdom Donaldson; and his brothers, Fred William Donaldson and Michael "Mike" David Donaldson. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Margel" Kessler Donaldson; his daughters, Margaret "Meg" Donaldson Romaniello (Vince) and Sarah Elizabeth Donaldson; and his sisters, Becky Campbell and Sherry Ann Donaldson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

“In loving memory of Steven Donaldson, Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. I grew up living beside Steve Donaldson. He wasn't just my friend but my cousin as well. I knew Steve mostly through our participation in Boy Scouts Troop 175, and all the adventures we went on together. For me it was one of the best parts of my life, and I am glad that I was able to share that with my cousin. Cousin Steve, I will see you on the other side of life, embraced by our Savior's love.”
