It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Major John Paul Layne (Lugoff, South Carolina), born in Williamson, West Virginia, who passed away on November 2, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Layne and Hazel Layne; his granddaughter Jennifer "Jenny Lenny" Wray; his stepson Johnny Williams; his stepgrandson Nicholas Reed; and his siblings, Frida, Frank, Lydia, Barbara and Thomas.

He is survived by: his children, Rick Layne (Shelia) of Fayetteville, N. C. and Teresa Wray of Columbus, GA; his significant other Ola Mae Williams; his stepchildren, Connie Sue Sirovica (Scott) and Sharla Shirey (Edward); his sister Denise Layne; the mother of his children Dorothy Layne; and his close friend Dustin Mitchell. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
