He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Leo and Ruth Elizabeth Young Lyles. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Ruth Tidwell Lyles; his stepchildren, Tammy Bennett of Lugoff and Gary "Sam" Jeffers of Columbia; his siblings, Glenn Lyles (Barbara) of Camden and Libby Jeffers of Lugoff; his grandsons, Matthew Arnold (Kendal) and Austin Bennett; his great grandchildren, Bella Bennett and Brady Bennett; and his pets, Ginger and Polly.

Memorials may be made to The Bread of Life Orphanage in Romania.
