He was predeceased by: his wife Laura M. Nelson; his parents, Israel Nelson Sr. and Magnolia Wells Nelson; and his brother Roosevelt Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Juliette Sumpter of Rembert, Israel Nelson III of Columbia, Isaac Nelson (Sherika) of Rembert and Brad Nelson (Sherita) of Rembert; and his sisters, Leila Nelson and Jean Nelson. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
