In loving memory of Dorothea E. Barwick of Lugoff, South Carolina, born in Astoria, New York, who departed this world on January 9, 2025 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Kissh and Ruth Veselsky Kissh; and her grandson Ellis Barwick. She is survived by: her husband William "Bill" Barwick of Sumter, SC; her children, Doris "Beth" Noltkamper, Ruthann "Rae" Gunter, Lynda Penland (Doug), Robert Barwick (Jan), John Barwick (Linda), Brenda Perdue and Michael Barwick (Dora Jane); and her grandchildren, Monica, Keith, Michaela, David, Mary, Beth Anne, Adriana, Caleena, Joseph and Tarissa. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous foster children.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Powers Funeral Home (832 Ridgeway Rd, Lugoff, SC 29078). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dotty's memory to the Concord Baptist Church Building Fund, 1885 Myrtle Beach Hwy, Sumter, SC 29153 or to a nonprofit of choice that provides support for foster children.
