He was predeceased by: his parents, George Reuben and Madeline Whitley Cooke; and his former wife Carol Kelly Cooke. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Peake Cooke; his children, Anna Cooke Smith (Clay) of Apollo Beach, Fla., Erin Cooke Stephenson (Rob) of Daniel Island, S. C., Adam Peake (Anna) of Savannah and Jessica Peake Bowers (Jonathan) of Lugoff; his sister Sandra Cooke Wardlaw (Billy) of Lake Wateree; his nieces, Terri Rudy (Mark) of Waxhaw, NC and Dawn Wardlaw of Lake Wateree; his great-nephews, Jackson and Nicholas Rudy of Waxhaw, NC; and his grandchildren, McRae Stephenson, Bennett Smith, Madilyn Bowers, Riley Smith, Brewer Stephenson and Jackson Bowers.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Powers Funeral Home (832 Ridgeway Rd, Lugoff, SC 29078). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park (1659 Kershaw Hwy, Camden, SC 29020).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Foundation or Gideons International.
