It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Wolbert Smith of Lugoff, South Carolina, born in Seattle, Washington, who passed away on March 26, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia Louise Smith; his parents, William Henry Smith and Vere Irene Wolbert Smith; and his stepbrother Larry Dean Smith. He is survived by: his children, Virginia "Ginny" Belford (John), Joyce O'Cain (Tom), Billy Joe Smith and Janet Smith; his grandchildren, John Belford, Brian Belford, Justin Thornton (Angie), Matthew Thornton (Fujiko), Lindsey Corbin (Matthew), Jacob Smith (Cassie), Jessica Janzen (Jeffrey), Molli Smith and Zachary O'Cain; and his sister Jeanette Swinney. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legin Post 17.
