He was predeceased by: his parent Clelier McDowell Simmons; and his siblings, Sheila Simmons, Abraham Simmons and Judeudia Brounson. He is survived by: his wife Vernell; his children, Althea Perry (Dexter) of Clanton, DE, Shenea Watson (Chase) of Troy, NY, Erwin McDowell of Vanetta, NY, Fredrecker Shaw of Columbia, SC and Wanda Felder of Longs, SC; his brother Raleigh Simmons (Cookie); his aunt Geneva Stamp; his cousins, McDowell, Parson, Ossie Matthews, Reverend, James R. Matthews, Joella and Edward McQueen; his close friends, Howard Barrett, Robert McLoren and Shed; and his sons, Simon Clemmons and Van Lane. He is also survived by four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
