It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertie Mae Spivey of Longs, South Carolina, who passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vance Lee Hilburn and Nellie Rebecca Fowler Hilburn; her spouse Donnie Houston Spivey; and her siblings, Herman Lee Hilburn, Luette Penny and Eva Cox.
She is survived by: her children, Ronnie Spivey of Tabor City, NC, Danny Spivey of Tabor City, NC, Ricky Spivey, Sr. (Gale) of Tabor City, NC, Kathy Spivey Kerr (Michael) of Longs, SC and Elson Spivey (Mary Ann) of Tabor City, NC; her siblings, Vance Leon Hilburn of Loris, SC, Dale Hilburn of Tabor City, NC, Henry Lee Hilburn of Waukesha, WI, Brice Lee Hilburn of Thomasville, NC, Vera Piver of Green Bay, WI and Pearl Matthews of Hartford, NC; and her grandchildren, Jamie Spivey (Adriane), Dawn Spivey, Ricky Spivey, Jr., Jennifer Spivey, Wendy Pettry (Jerry), Carrie Feldbusch, Sherrie Rippa, Kathleen Spivey, Dustin Enzor, Brandon Enzor, Danielle Megonigal, Melissa Hill, Jessica Decarlo (AJ) and Thomas Ranalli. She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel (300 E 5th St, Tabor City, NC 28463). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at the Fowler Hilburn Cemetery.
